Peach Bhut Jolokia is new variety for us this season. Commonly known as the 'Peach Ghost', this version has been bred to ripen to bright peach in colour. It has been included in numerous hosted tasting sessions here at the ranch recently and we can confirm it is every bit as hot, if not hotter, than it's famous red- ripening cousin but the flavour and aroma is more like sweet ripe mango or peach . The CPI, or Chile Pepper Institute Bhut Jolokia is famous for becoming the hottest chile in the world back in 2007 when it was grown by the CPI at New Mexico State University and became the first chile to break the 1 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU) average. More importantly, it started a global arms race to breed hotter and hotter peppers.
